Why Bonnie – Fake Out (Bedroom Version)
Why Bonnie has decided that “Fake Out” needed a makeover, so they’ve stripped it down to its acoustic bones for “Fake Out – Bedroom Version”. This reimagining of the “bold” lead single from 2024’s “Wish on the Bone” finds Blair Howerton armed with only her guitar.
The original “Fake Out” was a quietly defiant guitar anthem that responded to people who love telling women how to act. Now, Howerton’s screams of “It’s not my face / I imitate” have transformed into quietly belted pleas, which sound like someone decided to whisper their rebellion instead of shouting it from the rooftops.
“Fake Out – Bedroom Version” is the first taste of “The Bedroom” EP, due July 25 via Fire Talk. The EP collects three newly recorded acoustic reworks from “Wish on the Bone” plus a demo of a new composition. Despite the delicate shift, the song reportedly keeps all of its bite, proving that some messages translate across any arrangement.
